A group of thugs, reportedly from a state sponsored rival students union, seized and destroyed fliers, t-shirts and a banner before indiscriminately assaulting nearby students, ZINASU has said. The police responded by assaulting and then arresting the SRC leaders, who were promptly taken to Masvingo Central Police station. ZINASU claim that none of the violent youths were arrested. A further 3 students were arrested after trying to take food to their colleagues in the station the following day.
