At the request of the French diplomacy, the city of Clermont-Ferrand and the 'Conseil Régional d'Auvergne' organized themselves as well as possible to receive Professor Bandazhevsky on the French territory. Professor Bandazhevsky and his wife, Doctor Galina Bandazhevskaya arrived in France the April 21st.
The 'Conseil Régional d'Auvergne' voted a grant to allow Professor Bandazhevsky to have an administrative statute as « Professeur Invité » at the 'Université d'Auvergne' for one year.
However, the statute of “Professeur Invité ” is quite precarious, as its duration is for one year. Obviously, the city of Clermont-Ferrand and the 'Conseil Régional d'Auvergne' are not responsible of this precarious statute, since, in France, only the state is able to create permanent posts in Universities.
Therefore, CRIIRAD, in full agreement with Prof. Youri Bandazhevsky and Dr. Galina Bandazhevskaya, had addressed yesterday to M. Jacques CHIRAC, President of the French Republic, a request for the creation of a permanent post as « Professeur de Universités » for Prof. Bandazhevsky.

The CRIIRAD asks every one, ordinary citizens, associations, public characters, physicians and scientists, to relay this demand by writing to the President of the French Republic to support the creation of this permanent post.

Finally, it is important to outline that Professor Bandazhevsky is returned the May 16th in Belarus for participating, the May 17th, to a scientific conference at Minsk organized by Mr Stéphane Chmelewsky, ambassador of France in Belarus.
