According to the BBC the Iranian authorities have given no confirmation of his detention.

Kian Tajbakhsh is a social scientist and urban planner. He has worked as a consultant in the areas of local government reform, urban planning and social policy, and has taught at universities in the US and in Iran. He has worked with several organizations including Iran’s Municipalities Organization, the Social Security Organization, and international organizations such as the World Bank and the Dutch Association of Municipalities. His academic research examines the evolving nature of Iranian state institutions and the policy making process.

The detention of Dr Tajbakhsh happened just days after another American Scholar was put in detention in Iran. Haleh Esfandiari, Director of the Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, has been under interrogation by Iranian authorities since December 2006 and is, since 8 May 2007, in a prison in Iran. According to some reports, apparently she stands accused of collaborating with Israel (Please see related NEAR Alerts).
